Where I Started...
Sandy was born and raised in Apex, North Carolina and began Scottish Highland dancing at the age of 5. Traveling throughout the United States, Canada and Scotland, Sandy has won numerous championships and has choreographed and performed in two professional productions of Scottish music and dance. Sandy became certified as a Scottish Highland dance teacher through the British Association of Teachers of Dance at the age of 16 and has taught dancers of all ages and abilities for the last fifteen years. Her enthusiasm for dance is boundless, as she enjoys seeing her students strive for their personal best.
Why I Can Help You Achieve Your Best
It was during her training as a competitive highland dancer that Sandy's interest focused on health and fitness. She went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Sandy's training and experience initially was clinical, working in cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation settings as an exercise physiologist at Duke Medical Center, as well as working with bariatric patients at Duke's Diet and Fitness Center. Her career shifted toward corporate fitness, where she became the program manager of a corporate fitness center. As a certified personal trainer and group fitness instructor through the American Council on Exercise (ACE) and Certified Exercise Specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine, it was here that Sandy was able to expand her love of group fitness and personal training, working with members and clients to achieve their desired level of health and fitness.
After relocating with her husband to Germantown, Maryland in October 2010, Sandy established StudioFIT, LLC as a way to blend her passion of fitness and dance.
StudioFIT is based on the belief that the customers' needs are of the utmost importance. Sandy would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver you the best service in the industry.
